Camera Brush Stroke
Camera Brush Stroke is a series that grew out of my daily commute. For two years (2024‑2025), I photographed the highways and back roads of Texas through the warped, melted tint of my passenger‑side window. That unexpected filter transformed boring, familiar scenes into something dreamlike and painterly. Giving gas stations and strip malls an almost Surrealist stillness, the boring day-to-day comes alive through my obscured view. Working with a compact Ricoh GR III, I captured spontaneous moments as they unfolded, letting the distortion and color shifts in the tint do most of the work. I’m fascinated by how a small barrier between me and the world can change what I notice; this series is my way of celebrating beauty in the mundane and inviting viewers to consider how perception is shaped. Best experienced at a large scale, these prints bring an almost surreal oil painting feel to the daily movements of Texas life. revealing subtle textures and colors that evoke fantasy while remaining firmly rooted in reality.
